UCI Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care is proud to host the 61st Annual Western Anesthesia Resident’s Conference (WARC) at The Beckman Center in Irvine, California.  The 2024 annual meeting will include multiple anesthesiology residency programs from throughout the Western region of the United States. WARC will provide a premier opportunity for residents, students, and fellows to present work they have accomplished during their training, including original research, quality improvement, and medically challenging cases. The conference also provides networking opportunities for anesthesia trainees, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals.

A Brief History of WARC

The Western Anesthesia Resident’s Conference was founded by Dr. Edmond “Ted” Eger II in 1962. Dr. Eger was a renowned anesthesiologist and scientist who pioneered the development of modern inhaled anesthetics. The conference is held annually and hosted by anesthesia departments located in the western U.S. region. Over the years, it has become a thriving and well-attended event. To honor Dr. Egar for his contributions, WARC has named an annual lectureship after him.
