As a scientist and a businessman, Dr. Beckman envisioned a West Coast center where experts could discuss matters of science and technology, comparable to the headquarters of the NAS and the NAE in Washington, DC. Designed by the renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering opened its doors in April 1988, and the Beckman Center continues to be operated by the academies as their West Coast location for both program activity and conferences.
Getting There
The Beckman Center is conveniently located near the University Drive exit from CA-72. Adjacent to the University of California, Irvine, and less than three miles from the John Wayne Orange County Airport, the Beckman Center is easily reached from several local freeways. In the heart of Orange County, the location is approximately midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. There are spectacular scenery, excellent hotels and restaurants, and a variety of fun and interesting things to do.

Shuttle Service
Complimentary shuttle transportation will be available between the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel and The Beckman Center.
The shuttle pick-up area at the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel will be located in the front entrance of the hotel near the valet booth.

A block of guest rooms has been created for attendees and their guests with a special group rate of $189.00 per night plus tax at the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel. To receive the special rate, reservations must be made before the room block is filled or before April 17, 2024, whichever comes first. Reservations will be taken following this date will be based on space and rate availability.
All travel and lodging expenses are the sole responsibility of the individual registrant.
